Illuminating Safety: Best Practices for Soy Wax Candle Usage

Soy wax candles have surged in popularity due to their clean-burning properties and environmentally friendly nature. While they offer a cozy ambiance and pleasant fragrances, it's essential to use them safely to prevent accidents and maximize enjoyment. Here are some best practices for safe soy wax candle usage:
NOTE: Safe use practices can also be found on the underside of our candles.

1. Trim Your Wick:  Before lighting your soy wax candle, ensure the wick is trimmed to about a quarter of an inch. This helps prevent excessive flickering, smoking, and uneven burning, which can lead to wax spills or overheating.

2. Avoid Overburning:  Limit each burning session to no more than four hours. Overburning can cause the candle's container to overheat, potentially cracking or shattering. Additionally, it can deplete the fragrance oils faster, reducing the candle's overall lifespan.

3. Place on a Stable Surface:  Always place your soy wax candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, flammable objects, and curious pets or children. Avoid placing candles near curtains, bedding, or other combustible materials.

4. Practice Caution with Multiple Candles:  If burning multiple soy wax candles simultaneously, ensure they are spaced apart to prevent overheating. Keep in mind that clustering candles too closely together can create a concentrated heat source, increasing the risk of accidents.

5. Monitor While Burning: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep an eye on the flame and extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep. It's also crucial to extinguish candles before they burn down to the bottom of the container to prevent overheating.

6. Extinguish Safely: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish your soy wax candle. Avoid using water to put out the flame, as it can cause hot wax to splatter and potentially start a fire. Wait until the wax has cooled before touching the candle or moving it.

7. Store Properly: When not in use, store your soy wax candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Exposure to heat or sunlight can cause the wax to soften or melt, altering the candle's appearance and fragrance.

8. Dispose of Wisely:  Once your soy wax candle has burned down, dispose of the container responsibly. Clean out any remaining wax and recycle or repurpose the container as desired. Avoid disposing of candles in household trash bins if they contain significant amounts of wax.

By following these safe use practices, you can enjoy the soothing ambiance and delightful scents of soy wax candles with peace of mind. Remember, safety always comes first when it comes to candle usage.
